During our October meeting the membership selects a local charity to support. The monies from our fundraising activities are then formally presented to this charity in May. For 2008 - 2009 the selected charity is:

Columbia Country Humane Society

The Columbia County Humane Society receives no funding, other than through donations, fundraisers and adoption fees. CCHS has purchased 13.7 acres in Columbia County to be used for a low cost spay/neuter clinic, dog park, and animal rescue facility. These facilities will serve residents of the whole CSRA - not just Columbia County. The immediate need is for money to complete the spay/neuter clinic. The facility is necessary because of the vast numbers of stray and abandoned pets in our community - a by-product of the rapid growth we have experienced. In the past eight years, over 100,000 animals have been destroyed in Richmond and Columbia counties because they had no home, or prospect of being adopted.
